Brick Cladding Price in India: What Actually Affects the Cost

Brick Cladding Price in India: What Actually Affects the Cost

Ask five brick cladding suppliers for a per-square-foot price and you'll likely get five different numbers, because the figure depends on at least four variables that change from one order to the next. Here's what actually moves the price, so a quote makes sense when you get one instead of feeling like a random figure.

What drives the cost

Size and thickness. A 9"x3" tile uses roughly 1.5x the raw clay of a 9"x2" tile of the same finish, purely by volume. More material in, more cost out — thicker handmade tiles at 25-30mm sit above the pressed 20mm range for the same reason.

Finish. Smooth is the least labour-intensive to produce — it comes off the press and into the kiln with minimal extra handling. Texture finish adds a stamping or surface-treatment step. Handmade adds the most: every tile is shaped individually rather than pressed in bulk, which is slower and needs more skilled labour per piece. That ordering — smooth, then texture, then handmade — is roughly how the price stacks up too.

Colour and tone complexity. Single-tone colours like Classic Red or Classic Brown are the baseline. Dual Tone and Aged finishes need controlled multi-batch blending to get the tonal variation right, which adds a bit to the cost over a flat single colour.

Order quantity. This is the biggest lever most buyers don't use. Bulk orders get meaningfully better per-square-foot rates than small ones, because kiln runs are most efficient when they're full — firing a partial batch for a small order costs us close to the same as firing a full one. If you're a contractor bundling multiple projects, ordering together rather than in separate small batches is worth asking about.

Roughly what to expect

As a broad indicator — not a quote — smooth-finish tiles in the Indian market typically start in the lower range per square foot, texture finish sits a step above that, and handmade sits highest given the manual labour involved. Exact factory-direct pricing depends on the size, finish, colour and quantity combination you land on, plus current input costs, so we'd rather give you a real number for your actual wall than a broad range that may not hold by the time you order. Send us your wall area, preferred size and finish, and we'll send back a written quote — usually within 24 hours, with a free sample so you can check the colour under your own lighting before committing.

Tile cost isn't the whole budget

Three things sit outside the per-tile price that people forget to account for: tile adhesive (the bonding layer, priced separately by the bag), grout for the joint lines, and an optional sealant coat if the wall will see direct rain or heavy cleaning. None of these are large relative to the tile cost, but leaving them out of a budget is the most common reason a quote feels higher than expected once installation starts.

Cladding versus a full brick veneer wall

A full structural brick veneer — actual bricks laid in mortar, one by one — costs more than cladding tiles in almost every case, for reasons that have nothing to do with the clay itself. It needs more raw material per square foot (75-110mm of brick depth versus 20mm of tile), a mason laying individual units rather than a tiler setting adhesive-backed tiles, and sometimes additional structural support to carry the extra weight. For a wall that only needs to look like brick rather than bear load — which covers most interior feature walls and a large share of exterior facades — cladding tiles get the same visual result for less material, less labour time and less structural complication.

Getting the most accurate quote

The fastest way to a real number: measure your wall area, decide roughly which size from our sizes guide and which colour from our colour guide you're leaning toward, and send both to us along with your city. Delivery distance from our Ambala facility factors into landed cost for large orders, so a Delhi NCR quote and a Himachal quote for the same tile won't be identical.

Full specs for every size and finish are on our brick cladding tiles page. As a factory-direct exposed brick supplier, we skip the distributor markup that typically sits between a kiln and a construction site — worth mentioning if the quotes you've collected so far all look similar and you're wondering why. Get in touch with your wall dimensions for an exact, written quote.
