Why Clay Terrace Tiles?

Cool Roofs. Strong Floors.
Natural Clay.

Clay terrace tiles are the traditional and most effective solution for Indian rooftops and outdoor floors. Unlike concrete or ceramic tiles that absorb heat and crack over time, kiln-fired clay tiles stay significantly cooler, resist water penetration and last for decades with zero maintenance.

Golden Bricks Co. manufactures terrace and roof tiles in multiple sizes and colours from our kiln in Ambala, Haryana. Factory-direct pricing. Consistent batch quality. Bulk supply available pan-India.

Applications

Where Are Terrace Tiles Used?

From flat RCC rooftops to garden terraces — clay tiles are the most durable, coolest and most beautiful outdoor flooring solution.

Waterproofing

Flat RCC Rooftops

Clay tiles laid over an RCC slab act as a natural waterproofing layer — they absorb no heat, resist rain penetration and significantly reduce the temperature inside the building below.

Outdoor Living

Courtyards & Verandas

The most popular application in Indian homes. Clay terrace tiles keep courtyard floors cooler than concrete — and look far more elegant, especially barefoot in summer.

Residential

Bungalow & Villa Terraces

Premium residential projects increasingly use clay tiles for terrace flooring as an alternative to vitrified tiles — better heat resistance, natural look and zero maintenance.

Hospitality

Hotel & Resort Rooftops

Hotels and resorts use clay terrace tiles extensively on rooftop dining areas, poolside decks and heritage property restoration — they combine durability with a premium natural look.

Compact Spaces

Balconies & Corridors

The 150×150mm square tiles are perfect for balconies, corridors and narrow outdoor passages — compact format, easy to lay and extremely durable under foot traffic.

Commercial

Commercial Buildings

Office buildings, showrooms and commercial complexes use clay terrace tiles on rooftop terraces, outdoor cafes and garden areas — low maintenance, heat-resistant and professional-looking.

FAQ

Terrace Tiles — Common Questions

Yes — for outdoor rooftop use, clay tiles outperform vitrified tiles in several ways. Clay is a natural insulator and stays significantly cooler than vitrified or ceramic tiles in the Indian summer. Clay tiles are also slip-resistant when wet, require no sealing, and are far more durable under outdoor UV and rain exposure. Vitrified tiles are better suited for indoor floors.
The Roof Tile W/Hole (229×229×55mm, 4.0 Kg) is specifically designed for flat RCC rooftop waterproofing. The ventilation holes allow air to circulate beneath the tile layer — this prevents moisture from getting trapped and significantly reduces heat transfer to the slab below. It is laid over a waterproofing membrane on the RCC roof.
Clay terrace tiles can reduce the temperature of the RCC slab below by 6–10°C compared to a bare concrete rooftop in peak summer. This translates to noticeably cooler rooms on the top floor without any air conditioning. It's one of the most cost-effective passive cooling solutions for Indian buildings.
For the primary waterproofing of an RCC slab, a waterproofing membrane (bituminous or crystalline) should be applied first. Clay tiles are then laid on top to protect the membrane from UV damage and physical wear. The clay tiles themselves also contribute to water resistance, but should not be used as the only waterproofing layer on a leaky roof.
We supply to individual homeowners (single rooftop) as well as large construction projects. MOQ and pricing depend on the tile type and your location. Contact us at +91 90411 00702 or WhatsApp with your requirement and we'll share pricing and logistics details. Physical samples available on request.
Clay terrace tiles are typically laid on a cement mortar bed (1:3 mix, 25–40mm thick) over the prepared RCC slab. Tiles are pressed firmly, joints are grouted, and the surface is cured for 7 days before use. For the Roof Tile W/Hole variant, tiles are laid loose over a waterproofing layer — no mortar needed, which allows easy future inspection and replacement.
Yes. Our kiln-fired clay tiles are dense and have low water absorption, making them frost-resistant. They are suitable for use in North Indian winters including areas with occasional frost. The key is proper installation with adequate drainage to prevent water pooling on the surface.
